HomeTown Insurance was originally established in 1937 as the "Carl Wolf Agency" in Cleveland, MN. Carl was an employee of both First State Bank and owner of the agency until he retired after 35 years in the Bank and Insurance business.
1972
Tom Lasonde became the President and the agency was renamed as Cleveland Insurance Agency (CIA)
1992
Community Bank Group purchased the Peoples State Bank and Cleveland Insurance Agency and changed the agency name to Community Insurance, Inc. The agency expanded and added agents and office locations in Le Sueur, Henderson, St. Peter and Jordan while being part of the Community Bank Group.
2006
Redwood Financial, Inc., a Financial Holding Company, purchased Community Bank and Community Insurance, Inc. The bank changed its name to HomeTown Bank and the agency operated as Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc. d/b/a Community Insurance, Inc.
2007
The agency expanded and added agents in Redwood Falls and Olivia.
2010
Doug Schweim was named President/CEO of Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc.
2012
The agency expanded in Waconia.
2015
The agency expanded into Shakopee.
2021
Redwood Financial, Inc. purchased Corn Capital Innovations, a crop insurance agency in Olivia.
2021
Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc. purchased Fuhr Insurance Agency in Redwood Falls and will continue to operate as the Fuhr Insurance Agency.
2022
Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc changed its d/b/a from Community Insurance, Inc. to HomeTown Insurance.
Today, we continue to be headquartered and officed out of the HomeTown Bank location in Cleveland, MN. We are proud to have 10 other locations that serve and protect our customers in and around each of our communities.
