HomeTown Insurance Agency was originally established in 1937 as the "Carl Wolf Agency" in Cleveland, MN. Carl was an employee of both First State Bank and owner of the agency until he retired after 35 years in the Bank and Insurance business.
Tom Lasonde became the President and the agency was renamed as Cleveland Insurance Agency (CIA)
Community Bank Group purchased the Peoples State Bank and Cleveland Insurance Agency and changed the agency name to Community Insurance, Inc. The agency expanded and added agents and office locations in Le Sueur, Henderson, St. Peter and Jordan while being part of the Community Bank Group.
Redwood Financial, Inc., a Financial Holding Company, purchased Community Bank and Community Insurance, Inc. The bank changed its name to HomeTown Bank and the agency operated as Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc. d/b/a Community Insurance, Inc.
The agency expanded and added agents in Redwood Falls and Olivia.
Doug Schweim was named President/CEO of Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc.
The agency expanded in Waconia.
The agency expanded into Shakopee.
Redwood Financial, Inc. purchased Corn Capital Innovations, a crop insurance agency in Olivia.
Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc. purchased Fuhr Insurance Agency in Redwood Falls and will continue to operate as the Fuhr Insurance Agency.
Community Insurance Brokerage, Inc changed its d/b/a from Community Insurance, Inc. to HomeTown Insurance Agency.
Today, we continue to be headquartered and officed out of the HomeTown Bank location in Cleveland, MN. We are proud to have 10 other locations with a total of 9 agents that serve and protect our customers in and around each of our communities.
